Bumbo Sitting and Naked Time

Hazel,
You are getting stronger and stronger every day. You are also moving more and more. Although you are not quite sitting up on your own, you do pretty well with the Bumbo to support you, especially if there are toys!

...and you are over, but you found a new toy, so you are okay with it!

This morning I went to get you out of your crib and you had blown out of you jammies, so I stripped you and the crib, gave you a ball to play with, and headed to the laundry room. When I came back I found you super happy and playing!

Look mommy, I found a ball

 Hi bright eyes!

Even though I am constantly washing your poopy clothes (and crib sheet), you make us smile more than anything! We love you so much, and are so thankful for how joyful you are!

Love you,
Mommy and Daddy

Extreme Yard Makeover

Hazel,
You have the best Nana and Grandpa ever. For mommy's birthday they brought down a whole ton of plants from GG (Great Grandma) and Great Grandpa's yard (and from their own yard) and planted them with us. Our yard looks so much better, and will look even better next year! You had so much fun playing while the transformation took place.

You, hanging out and demonstrating how you can point your toes and show off your leg rolls all at once!

After

Your new hobby = blowing bubbles

Again, here's the before and after:

The yard looks awesome! Thanks to GG and Great Grandpa for all the beautiful plants (there are even more in the backyard) and to Nana and Grandpa for digging, planting, and directing! Thanks to Daddy too, for helping so much!

Love you,
Mommy and Daddy

Gillam Family Beach Trip

 Hazel,
We spent the weekend at the beach! One of Daddy's cousins got married, so Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jodi, and the girls came over and we all got to hang out! Grandma took advantage of the great light and took some great pictures.

Five Months

Hazel,
You are already five months old! You are acting like such a big girl in so many ways. Stories, oh man do you tell us some stories. Nana says you are just exploring how sound feels in your throat and mouth, but we are pretty sure you just have a ton to say! You love to laugh. And it's not just a little giggle anymore, it's a full on belly laugh. It happens most when Daddy chomps on your tummy or when Mommy plays peek-a-boo with you! You roll over like a maniac, and love being on your tummy. We got you a johnny jumper and you are figuring out how to make it bounce, which you love! Another fun new trend for you is putting everything in your mouth...seriously, everything! You are so good at grabbing things now, so putting stuff in your mouth is easy! Your hand, our hands, your toys, your clothes, you even try to grab our food to put in your mouth. I think maybe you are ready for some solids! Junie B. and Henry are your favorite things to watch, especially Henry. You will stare at him if he's running around like crazy or even if he's just lying next to you.

I do realize your feet are fuzzy in this one, but it's true to your busy body self right now!

This has been a big month for another reason too. Mommy went back to work which means you now spend most days with the Purnells. Although Mommy and Daddy wish we could play together all day long, we can't, and the next best thing is that you get to play with such wonderful friends! We knew it would be great, but it made Mommy so happy when she picked you up the first day and Bo and Colby couldn't stop talking about how cute and fun you were. Bo told his mommy you were beautiful and Colby did not stop saying good-bye and waving out the window until you and Mommy were in the car! We are so thankful that you get to be a part of their family!

These pictures were taken on another big day...the first time you were sick. You are such an awesome baby...even though you still weren't feeling great, you smiled and smiled for some pictures! You were fine all day and then at your night feeding you ate most of your bottle with Daddy, sat up to burp, and puked all over you, Daddy, the chair, and the floor. Mommy and Daddy were in shock! I think it scared you too. It was sad to see you so sad, but in true Hazel style as soon as you were done, you were as happy as can be. Maybe a little more tired, but still happy! You threw up again one more time late that night, so Daddy stayed home with you the next day. He took such good care of you, you were feeling much better by the time Mommy got home from her first day of school. Less than a week later you got your first cold. You are such a trooper, but it's still hard to see you uncomfortable.

We can't believe you are already five months, the time really does fly by.

We love you so much big girl!

Labor Day Weekend

Hazel,

We had such a fun labor day weekend! Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler came to visit and we did all sorts of fun things. We went shopping, we had a bar-b-que and watched football, we went wine tasting, and then we walked around downtown and did more shopping! Here are some pictures from our fun weekend!

Hazel's Recent Hobbies

Hazel,

You are getting to be such a big girl. You love being with people, well, you have always loved that. Now you are becoming interested in more specific things. Here are a couple of examples...

You and your cute chub watching Grandpa play his guitar and sing to you
The best part of this picture is that we had just gotten to Nana and Grandpa's and you were super cranky. You had worked yourself up so much you were a sweaty little girl so I took all your clothes off but your diaper and sat you by Grandpa so I could fix a bottle. You immediately stopped crying and stared intently at Grandpa and his guitar. I have such fun memories of Grandpa playing his guitar and singing when I was a little girl, it makes me so happy that you will have the same!

You and Daddy all ready for the Duck's first game!
I've already said this, but it still holds true. You LOVE your Daddy. You still laugh for him more than anyone else. I probably shouldn't admit this, but you really do like watching TV, especially football. I think you like watching all that movement!

We love you!
