T minus 5 weeks

In five weeks...our lives will change. I am so excited for that time, I can hardly stand it. In five weeks (plus or minus a few days) we will be able to live in this amazing house! As we get closer and closer I am more and more thankful that we get to enjoy this place. I am constantly thinking of the memories we will build and create in this house. I am constantly thinking of the stories we will tell of "our first house" when we are old and gray. Have I mentioned how blessed we are?

Have I mentioned how blessed I am to have a husband who is willing to endure my constant conversations about refrigerators (we bought one this weekend...I heart my new fridge big time), carpets, where we should put furniture, what colors we should paint walls. I know there are about 100 other things he would rather be talking about, but he continues to listen (or fake listening really well:) Erik, you are wonderful!

So, here it is, or at least the most current version. It has sheet rock, which means that walls look like walls and rooms look like rooms. It is painted, and I am SOOOO pleased with the color. I am so excited to see my rusty red door. I am so excited to see grass and plants. I am just so excited.

Fun and Games

Erik and I had so much fun this weekend. We got to hang out with Kai. Kai is the son of some good friends of ours. Their family is getting ready to leave for Peru to do mission work in the jungle. Seriously, the jungle. They are amazing people who are so insperational in their dedication to following what the Lord has planned for them. Tracy and I met during college and have been roomates and friends ever since. We have some of the most random stories together and still laugh about the fun adventures we've shared (examples include running down mountains from lightening, sleeping in kiddie pools in our backyard, driving-and talking the whole way-to California). T-you are wonderful, and I love our stories, even if we're the only ones who think they are funny! I can't believe you are really going...okay, I can believe it, I just am in denial-just a little, I promise! You can read more on their Peru blog here. We will miss them so, so, so much, but know they are doing amazing work!

Look at that face...precious!

Kai was highly entertained by a game where he would put his "pack-pack" over his shoulder, say "see ya," and walk into our kitchen, then he would come back out and say "hi". Over, and over, and over again! We couldn't stop laughing.

Another fun activity was sitting on the bench and turning the light on and off, and updating us each time whether the light was on or off...such a smarty!

Kai's main goal of the weekend was to hang out with Junie B. Funny, Junie B's goal of the weekend was to stay away from Kai..hmmm. This was their closest encounter, supervised by Erik.

T- Thanks for letting us borrow him! He is awesome!

The Wedding!

I had the privilege of going to my friends' wedding a couple of weekends ago. It was such a fun weekend, full of hanging out with old friends, and meeting new ones. Katie and Daniel are an amazing couple! It was so fun to be a part of their day and they were even gracious enough to let me hang out the following day. I love Mexican food in San Antonio, it makes me happy :) Such a fun new family! Congrats and best wishes Katie and Daniel!

Tiff and I at the reception! Tiff, thanks for being my date :)

Daniel's groom cake, how great is that?! (He's from West Texas)
Katie (and Daniel) did a fabulous job creating a beautiful reception. Everything was incredible! I LOVE the gold chargers!

The day after. There was a minor slip with some wrist corsages, so we played prom the next day! The beautiful Bride is in the middle, with Julianne and I.
Katie, it was so great to see you! The wedding was amazing. Can't wait to see you again!

I had no idea

I honestly had no idea how fast houses could be built. I know at the beginning of this process they gave us a closing date, and I believed them. Looking back, I don't think I realized how soon that date was! The last we were told, March 11th is the day they are shooting for. Holy cow, that is so soon. It's crazy! Here are some pictures from yesterday, who knows what is different today!

The back of the house is painted. The lighting was kind of funny, so it's hard to tell the exact color, but at least you can see it's painted!

Weird shadows!

What a difference from the last time. We have siding, cool columns, a railing, a driveway and paved garage, and a super cute patio area! Oh yeah, and some friendly workers!

Sunday Update

We headed over to check out the house after church on Sunday, and were so pleased with what we found! So many interior walls, a roof, and even windows! It's almost like a real house.

Looking into the kitchen/nook from the far side of the family room.

The family room (with a fireplace :)

The front (duh!)

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but some of our friends ended up buying a house just around the corner and have already moved in! We can actually see their room from the window in our room :) We ended up stopping by their place and hanging out for awhile. I have a feeling that is just an example of what is to come. We are so excited they will be neighbors. It was great to see you Kim and Shane (and Caden too)! Kim was even nice enough to help me measure all of our windows so I can start looking at blinds! Thanks again Kim.

us around the house

Here are more pictures from our trip to the house this weekend.

Erik and I hanging out in the backyard!

Here I am getting into the fridge to find food for dinner :)

Here is Erik eating at our new dining room table he made himself! Didn't he do a great job?!

Lastly, here is Erik on his way out the sliding glass door to B-B-QUE dinner!

Although this is not part of "us around the house" I thought it was funny/odd that our bathtubs are on the lot across the streets! I guess we're getting tubs soon.

Hope you had fun taking a tour with us! Erik LOVED me taking these pictures :) Our house now has two stories, and defined spaces. Still hoping for a roof and stairs to making getting to the second story just a little safer!

We are getting more and more excited every day! Hopefully we'll have more new pictures this Wednesday!

The latest...

We went down to check out the house again today. It seems to be changing drastically every time we see it. Such fun to see the progress!
