Spring Break in KC

Hazel,
You and I (Mommy) got to spend Spring Break with Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler (oh, and Cannella and Gabby too) this year. While Daddy was hard at working, working all sorts of crazy hours we got to go on a fun trip. We had so much fun going out and about, and staying inside hanging out while it tried to snow this year. I know, snow in March, crazy. Even crazier since the week before I went out and bought you summer clothes since it was 80 degrees there! Oh well, shorts are cute with leg warmers!

You were so good on your first flight! You loved playing at the airport before we boarded the plane. Once in the air, you made lots and lots of new friends, and talked with them until you crashed for about an hour.

Thursday it was so sunny. Not so warm, but sunny is good! You and Uncle Tyler played with Cannella in the back yard while Aunt Hannah worked and Mommy got ready for the day. There is a park right down the street that we walked to in the morning. You sure do love swinging, and even got to slide for the first time. Such fun!

You and Cannella became quite good friends! She quickly learned where to sit while you were eating so she could get all the food you were willing to share.

Thursday afternoon we went for a drive around town, making a stop at a local and very cool bookstore, Reading Reptile. You crawled around, dragging books along with you. Uncle Tyler and Aunt Hannah both bought you a book. They had such fun picking out special books for you. After the book shop we found a frozen custard shop, and all got a yummy treat.

After the book store we went for a walk through Loose Park. It is a huge park right in the middle of the city. We walked all around the lake, stopping for some Hazel photo shoot moments!

When we got home from our outing Aunt Hannah had to do more work, and you wanted to hang out with her. You were such a good helper! Look how hard you ladies were working.

On Friday we went shopping at some fun shops Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler like. There was a whole shop full of flavored olive oils, Mommy really liked that one! And there was a spice shop with some cool spices. We decided that gelato would be the perfect end to our shopping, so found a cute shop and took it home. So yummy! Friday night we went out to dinner at BRGR. You loved the fries and tator tots!

On the way home from dinner we passed a really pretty church so we stopped to take some pictures! Mommy is so excited to get some family pictures taken this spring. Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler agreed to pose as mommy and daddy so we could try out some shots. I like the way they turned out!

Mommy and baby needed a shot too!

I don't know what it was about this window, but you loved looking out. You would stand on the chair and bob your head while pointing out things you saw out the window! Saturday was really cold, and even snowed some, so we decided to stay inside where it was warm. Such a fun and lazy day. You had so much fun playing with the animals, and just hanging out!

You found the spice cabinet, and sat there shaking spice bottles while we made appetizers and dinner.

I am so thankful we were able to spend some fun time with Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler! I'm so thankful that you are such a good baby, and so easy to travel with. And I'm so thankful that I am your mommy! What a fun way to spend Spring Break. Maybe we'll have to think about making it a tradition!!

We love you,
Mommy and Daddy

1-1 months

Hazel,
Wow! Eleven months already. It seems crazy that this month is already over. You are growing and changing and learning new things every day.

You are standing all by yourself, which you think is hilarious. It's so funny to watch. Usually you end up standing because you have a toy in each hand and you get so excited you push off of whatever piece of furniture you are leaning on. When you realize you are standing, you squeal, shake your toys in the air, and smile your biggest smile.

Such nice kisses you are blowing!

The other big news this month is your tooth. We are pretty sure you are getting a second tooth now, and maybe even a third.

You want to be constantly moving, whether it is scaling the furniture, crawling up the stairs after an animal, sitting on your knees opening every drawer you can, holding our fingers to walk around, or standing up on Henry.

Love this pose!

Your curiosity is becoming so apparent, as is your independence. As you search through drawers, particularly the bottom drawer in our bathroom, and pull out every item (bottles of pills - no, you can't open them, nursing pads that were never used, nail clippers, and other unsafe items) you examine each, put it in your mouth, and just try to figure out what to do with each item.

Hazel, the one thing that remains constant is the joy you bring us. You make us smile so often. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. It's so hard to believe you have been with us for almost a year.

You are so special and we love you so much!

Sunday in the Street

Hazel,
It was just nice enough outside that we got to play for a little while this afternoon! You are getting more and more stable walking, so we put your big girl shoes on, grabbed your wagon, and headed out to the streets...okay, just our street.

Go baby go

Sideways smile

Just a Sunday stroll

Checking things out

Big steps and a little tongue

Miss Independent

Daddy smiling, Hazel yelling at Henry "BAA...BAA" For some reason you have decided that BAA means Henry. You never say it quietly-ever. This may be a reflection of how Mommy talks to Henry...hmm.

It was so great to have some family fun time today!

We love you,
Mommy and Daddy

I. Heart. Daddy.

Hazel,
Great morning light plus a couple of extra minutes before we had to leave for work equals cute baby daddy pictures.

It's true. You do love your daddy, and your daddy loves you!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

First Toof

Hazel,
Good news, you finally got your first toof...I mean tooth! You were a little slow with this milestone, but you made it! It's been quite a ride, this teething thing. You've been pretty good, but are definitely crankier than your usual happy self!

I spy a baby tooth popping through...bottom right

I heart black beans. Seriously. Love. Them. I ate 20 for dinner tonight.

Smiles for Daddy

What, I'm cute? No way.

Well, the journey of teething has begun. We took these pictures about a week ago and think that maybe your other bottom front tooth is coming in now! I guess you just had to get the ball rolling.

Happy Chomping!
Love you,
Mommy and Daddy

Monday Fun-day

Hazel,
We got to spend all day on President's Day with our good friends Amy and Ella! We started off with some solid baby naps, followed by some awesome stair play time, what else?! Despite Ella's serious faces, you little ladies had quite a blast crawling all over the stairs!

After some lunch, we headed out to the park. Such a pretty (cold, but sunshiney) day, so we had to go enjoy it. There was only one baby swing, so we took turns. Ella liked watching you swing.

What a fun little baby bench to take some fun friend pictures.

Happy friends!

Baby kisses

Okay, when are we done with just sitting here?!

We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends to spend time with! Thanks Ella and Amy for hanging out with us!

We love you Hazel,
Mommy and Daddy

The Chase

Hazel,
Oh the stairs, they are a new fascination of yours. You just cruise right up like you've been doing it for years. Going down...now that's a different story, but you will learn, and I'm sure will go fast however you do it! Anyway, on this particular day Henry and Junie B. decided to stay close while you climbed. I love this series. It depicts well what it's like supervising the three of you!

Hi Mom! What, Henry's attacking Junie B? Nothing new.

Junie B, I'll protect you by giving you some nice pets.

Oh, I forgot, I was climbing the stairs. Here I go again! Henry, you can play with Junie B.

Ooh, I see something fun back there, forget you guys!

Mama, you still there?

Hooray, there you are!

We love a good play date on the stairs!
Love you,
Mommy and Daddy
