Quack Quack!

Hazel,
Today is your first Halloween! I think you had a blast...or at least we did! You dressed up as a duck, because, as you know...we love our duck(s)!! Nana and Grandpa came to visit, and so did Kim, Caden, and Jorie.

Pumpkin Patches

Hazel,
After your dedication at church we all went to the pumpkin patch, well that's what we thought we were going to do! Aunt Alison, Kate, Nana, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy, and you all piled in cars and drove over to EZ Orchards. Well, Mommy didn't realize that there is a huge harvest fest that costs to go into, so we took some pictures, and Daddy said he knew of another pumpkin patch near by, so we headed there.

Well, it turns out that the pumpkin patch Daddy knew about was closed. At that point Nana and Grandpa decided it was time for them to go home, but Aunt Alison, Kate and all of us decided to try another one we had passed. We got to that one and realized it was quite rural...pumpkins still on vines, but we got some pictures here too.

After all that, we found a pumpkin patch on the way home with just what we were looking for...
piles of pumpkins!

Then we found some really cool tractors!

Oops, I'm the cutest baby who ever sat on a tractor wheel!

Maybe the funniest part is that we didn't even get pumpkins at any of the patches! It was a long day, a very long day. But at the end we were all laughing and we got some fun pictures!

Happy Pumpkin Patching!

Park Picture Shoot

 Hazel,
The weather has been amazing lately! This weekend was no exception. After meeting your new friend, Lucca, we decided to head down to the waterfront for a walk and photo shoot! It was quite tricky to get pictures of you sitting since you are still learning and tip over pretty quickly!

Flying Baby

Umm, mommy, what are these strange things, and why did you sit me here?

Oh, I can pick them up...cool!

I still like my toy (Fred) better

Thanks for letting us use you as a model!

We love you,
Mommy and Daddy

Dedication

Hazel,
This weekend you were dedicated. We feel so blessed to have a church that has grown into such a part of our lives. We learn more and meet more new friends every week! This weekend was special for a lot of reasons. Mommy and Daddy promised to raise you so that you may know the Lord, our church family (and Nana, Grandpa, and Aunt Alison) promised to support us all, and we got to do it all with the Emmerts!

Hazel, our prayer is that your life is full of joy and love for the Lord! May you know and love Him always!

Food's #1 Fan

Hazel,

You started solids this week! We knew you would be excited. You have been so interested in mommy and daddy's food lately, you could hardly wait! We started with rice cereal so the flavor would be similar to what you are used to.

You got so excited just to sit in your high chair, I think it makes you feel like a big girl! We gave you a spoon to play with while we got your food ready. You even loved that!

Well, long story short, you loved it! It took you awhile to get used to the idea of swallowing food, but eventually you got the hang of it!

Mommy and Daddy took turns feeding you. We all laughed a lot! You got so excited you started talking, and then food really ended up everywhere!

You loved rice cereal so much, we thought we'd try something new a few days later. I mushed up some bananas and tried those, but oh man, you did not love them! I'm starting to wonder if you just don't like sweet flavors (since every time we have tried to give you medicine you instantly throw up). I think we are going to try avocados next!

We love you baby girl, and are so glad you like food!

One half

Hazel,
You are six months!! Happy birthday sweet girl. We cannot begin to explain how wonderful the last six months have been. You have brought so much joy to our lives in ways we never imagined. You are always smiling, which makes us smile too! You are doing all sorts of new things. You still love playing on a blanket with all of your toys, but now you roll all around to find your preferred toy (usually the mirror or Sophie the giraffe). Your favorite toys of all, however, are the pets. You LOVE Henry and Junie B. Since you are now grabbing for what you want, Henry has learned to give you some space. He usually lays down close to you, then realizes that you want to play so scoots away, then you roll towards him, and he has to scoot more. It's so funny to watch!

You are developing a lot of hand eye coordination. We have a binki that stays strapped to your car seat. In the past when you cried mommy would turn around from the passenger seat, find your binki, and put it in your mouth. Then mommy would take your monkey blankey, and stuff it between your binki and your hands to prevent you from pulling your binki out! Quite a process. You are now able to follow the strap all the way from where it connects to your car seat strap to the binki, and then you put your binki in your mouth! Sounds silly, but it is actually a great development! Like I said before, you are also grabbing for what you want, which makes playing with your toys way more fun.

Bath time has become way more fun too since you figured out how to splash! Usually it starts when water goes over your eyes, but then you just keep going. You get yourself so excited that you laugh and splash so much mommy and daddy get drenched!

You are such a talker! You Dadadada all day long. That's not the only sound you make, however. You are also making Kakaka sounds, and a little bit of Gagaga. Mostly you just move your lips and try to make different noises while you spit and drool! You have also taken to chomping on your fingers. Still no teeth, but we think they are on their way!

You are almost sitting. You are so close! You have done it a few times, but you usually end up toppling over. You like the Bumbo a lot, and you even like sitting with the Boppy behind you. I think the reason you aren't that into sitting is because you are constantly trying to move! Rolling to get something you want or scooting around on the blanket.

Lately you have been moving even more. When on your tummy you push yourself up as far as you can and look all around. A few times you have moved your knees up, appearing as if you want to crawl. There have even been a couple of times when you get yourself into a plank position (on your tummy with your arms and legs supporting your body off the ground), you are so strong! We are pretty sure you just want to move all around!

My how you have changed. You are such a big girl, so fun, and so sweet! We love you so much, and have loved watching you grow into the big six month old girl you are!

Bumbo Sitting and Naked Time

Hazel,
You are getting stronger and stronger every day. You are also moving more and more. Although you are not quite sitting up on your own, you do pretty well with the Bumbo to support you, especially if there are toys!

Sitting and playing with toys

Starting to tilt

...and you are over, but you found a new toy, so you are okay with it!

Flying baby

This morning I went to get you out of your crib and you had blown out of you jammies, so I stripped you and the crib, gave you a ball to play with, and headed to the laundry room. When I came back I found you super happy and playing!

Look mommy, I found a ball

 Hi bright eyes!

Even though I am constantly washing your poopy clothes (and crib sheet), you make us smile more than anything! We love you so much, and are so thankful for how joyful you are!

Love you,
Mommy and Daddy
