Weekly Pictures

Hi Hazel!

One of my friends gave me the idea to take pictures of you in the same place every week so we can watch you grow and change! We have the one week picture, but it's on Daddy's computer, so we'll have to add it later. Here are weeks 2-6. It is so fun to watch how much you have turned in to your own person with your own personality!

Seven Weeks

You are six weeks old now, almost seven (seven week picture added later...notice the dimples)! You are getting more and more fun every day. This week you started to smile at us! We love it and spend all of our time trying to make you smile. It's so cute, you squint your left eye mostly closed, open your mouth and smile ever so slightly. You are even starting to coo while you smile! We love it all!

Last week you and I went to a mommy and me group at Meridian Park Hospital, where you were born. We got to meet other moms and babies your age. You slept the entire time, but I really enjoyed it! I'm sure this week you'll be the life of the party!

Speaking of sleeping, you are really getting into a good sleeping pattern. You started sleeping in your crib at night time this week, and you seem to love it! You are sleeping 3-4 hours between feedings and usually only wake up to eat. Last night you woke up a little more than usual, we hope you are feeling okay!

We have gotten to visit even more friends, and everyone says how cute you are and what a good baby you are! You love being held by anyone and rarely fuss!

We love you tons and love to watch you grow!

Mother's Day

Hazel,
It was our first Mother's Day! We had such a great day. It was sunny and beautiful so we got to hang out outside all day. Daddy made us crepes for breakfast that were so delicious! Then we went and met Nana, Grandpa, and Aunt Alison at Anne Amie Winery for lunch and wine tasting. Such a beautiful view. We had a great time eating and visiting, and of course talking to you! Daddy (and you...he says you can pay him back later :) got me a necklace with your name on it. I love it!

I love being your mommy!

One Month

Dear Hazel,

Time has flown by, like everyone said it would. You are already one month old, well technically you were a month last week, but we've been out and about so much I haven't had the chance to write about it. I can't believe how much you have grown over the course of this month, not only in weight, but in what you can do. You are looking all around, following voices, holding your head up, and so much more. You love talking with us, and we love it too! You are losing some of your hair, and we think it is so cute (and slightly funny)!

Your Aunt Hannah and Uncle Tyler came to visit last week, all the way from Kansas City! We had such a great time hanging out with them, Aunt Alison, and Nana and Grandpa for the weekend. We went to the Rhododendron Garden where your Uncle Tyler thought it would be fun to take you off-roading. Aunt Hannah was so good at feeding you your bottles, she did it all weekend! You loved it! Aunt Alison was such a sport and changed most of your diapers that weekend. I don't know how she did it, but you didn't cry once when she was changing you! And of course, Nana and Grandpa held you as much as everyone else would let them!

You also got to meet some of Mommy and Daddy's good friends, Tracy, Tyson, and Kai Smith. They are living in Peru right now, but will be back in a year. Tracy and Kai hung out with us and Jeannie on Thursday night. They loved holding and playing with you. Kai really liked holding your hand and was pretty sure you should be able to play with him! On Saturday we went to a bar-b-que for the Smiths. I think you were held by no less than 8 different women! You are such a good girl and let people hold you and love on you! It was so good to see our friends!

Hazel, we can't believe how much we love you after just one month! You have made us a family, and we love it!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Beach Trip and More

Hazel,
You have had a couple of very busy weeks. Lots of visits from friends and family, especially your Aunt Alison and Nana. Today you are 18 days old! Such a big girl. Last week we went on a family trip to the beach. The weather was great most of the time, and you stayed warm and happy in the front pack with me. Henry came too. He loved running around on the beach and in the water. In the background of the picture of Daddy there are some sea lion pups!

Nana came down this weekend and we decided to take some fun pictures of you. You are just so cute!

You are changing and growing every day. At your two week appointment you weighed 8lbs 3oz and were 21 1/4 inches long. You are in the 46th percentile for weight and the 86th percentile for length. You are learning all sorts of new things too. You look all around, move your head when you hear our voices, and wiggle wiggle wiggle!

We love you so much and are so blessed to call you ours!

Tulip Festival

Dear Hazel,

Although we've been out of the house a bunch already, one of your first family fun trips was to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival last weekend. We had a great time, saw tons of beautiful flowers, ran into your delivery nurse Karin, who is wonderful, and sat with our friends, the Johnson's, for awhile! It was great to get out and do something fun as a family. Here are just a few of the pictures your daddy and I took!

Love,
Mom

Formatting Alert

You might notice a format change around these parts. I figure with the change in our lives of little Miss Hazel, this blog needs some updating too. Well, the title change is obvious! From here on out most posts are going to be letters from Erik and I, to Hazel. I want to be able to use the blog posts to make a scrap book of sorts and like this formatting idea.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know!
